Details have emerged about how guns in the buy back will be disposed of

Details have emerged about how guns in the buy back will be disposed of

Firearms will be rendered inoperable at buy back sites by being bent in commercial hydraulic presses.

The guns will then be securely transported to a small number of police-approved locations where the firearms will be shredded.

The first collection is in Christchurch at Riccarton racecourse in July with nearly 200 more collections around the country over the next three months.
