A big drop in the number of fatalities on Auckland roads

Newly released data shows there were 22 percent fewer deaths and serious injuries in 2018, compared with the previous year.

That equates to 10 fewer deaths on Auckland's roads last year, and 161 fewer serious injuries.

Those numbers put a halt to a death toll that's been climbing for the past five years.

But the AA's Barney Irvine says one year doesn't make a trend .. and the numbers can quickly change year to year.
