Dean Crisp has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving charges after the Judge earlier indicated the sentence would be home detention, not imprisonment.
Crisp sought unsuccessfully to have the term reduced, saying the electronic monitoring would prevent him attending Exclusive Brethren church meetings and activities.
The fatal crash occurred 17 kilometres after Crisp failed to stop for a roadside traffic patrol, which clocked him speeding at 158 k's an hour on State Highway 2 south of Wairoa.
