Kiwi Supercars driver Shane van Gisbergen's vowing to learn from past mistakes as he tries to make up valuable ground this weekend

Kiwi Supercars driver Shane van Gisbergen's vowing to learn from past mistakes as he tries to make up valuable ground this weekend

The Holden driver heads into this weekend's round in Townsville in fifth on the drivers standings, while compatriots and Ford drivers Scott McLaughlin and Fabian Coulthard are first and second respectively.

Ford's won 15 of the 16 races this season.

He says they probably tried to be too tricky and it's cost them, so they need to be simple and look to slowly drag back ground.

The first practice session in Townsville starts at 12:55pm.
