A funding boost that could change the lives of thousands of Kiwis

A team of Auckland researchers has received a 221-thousand dollar grant from The Michael J Fox Foundation to explore new drugs to slow down the onset of Parkinson's disease.
It's estimated around 10-thousand people in New Zealand live with the neurodegenerative disorder, which has no cure.
Researchers from the Centre for Brain Research says current treatments only alleviate symptoms but do not target the actual cause.
They're seeking treatments that would delay, or even prevent degeneration by targeting the earliest disease process
