A leaked report has slammed Waikato DHB, saying patients cared for by the Board are poorly served

The report, leaked to the Weekend Herald, says patients spend longer than average in hospital, and there's a lack of funding to improve Maori health inequalities.
The release of the review comes a day after the Serious Fraud Office announced it would not bring criminal charges against former DHB chief Dr Nigel Murray.
The five month internal review by Dr Karen Poutasi says there are also significant costs in staffing, clinical supplies and outsourced elective surgical services.
It also found the DHB is not under-funded by the Ministry of Health per capita of population - which had been blamed for the climbing deficit.
And there's been a large increase in full-time staff, 1000 in one year, which was much higher than the national average;
