It's hoped traffic in Auckland's CBD will return to normality over the next 48 hours

Several busy central Auckland roads have been closed since Thursday afternoon, after high winds tore a 40-kilogram panel off the Victopia apartment building.

Victoria Street West re-opened over the weekend but Vogel Lane and part of Nelson Street remain closed.

Ian Harris from Victopia's Body Corporate says they're making good progress and the roads could re-open as early as this afternoon.

He says an engineer still needs to inspect the repairs, but all going well they'll be open within 24 to 48 hours.
