After undergoing treatment for testicular cancer late last year, the former Highlanders co-captain's been named in the Tongan squad for the upcoming Pacific Nations Cup.
The number eight hasn't played since representing his Italian club side Benetton Treviso last April.
Manu says while in the back of his mind he's dreaming of playing in the World Cup he's conscious of not getting too ahead of himself.
He says he knows that with being out for a year and the competition within the team, the next three games will be important around him trying to make the squad.
Manu will link up with Tonga in Auckland next week ahead of their first game against Samoa on July 27.
