A timely reminder for people borrowing money to make sure the lender's told them all they need to know

A timely reminder for people borrowing money to make sure the lender's told them all they need to know

The Commerce Commission alleges Westpac Bank breached the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act when it failed to give 19 thousand new credit card customers mandated information.

Massey University Director of Academic Quality Dr Claire Matthews says it wasn't a deliberate act by Westpac, but people should be aware.

She says if people are taking out loans, they need to understand the commitment they're entering into - and make sure they're getting from the lender- whoever it is.
