Strong winds and thunderstorms are about to hit much of the country

Strong winds and thunderstorms are about to hit much of the country

MetService Forecaster Andy Best says the bad weather front will sweep across New Zealand from this afternoon.

He's warning there will be severe weather, with thunderstorms, moving up the South Island and then over the North Island during the course of tomorrow.

In better news, it will be relatively warm for the time of year ... with double digit temperatures for most of the country during the night.
