    Sifan  Hassan breaks long-standing women's mile record in four minutes, 12.33 seconds

    Sifan Hassan has broken the long-standing women's mile record in four minutes, 12.33 seconds at the Monaco Diamond League athletics meeting

    The Dutchwoman fractionally beat the four minutes,12.56 second time set in 1996 by Svetlana Masterkova, a two-time Olympic champion in Atlanta.
