Water's pooling in parts of Wellington as heavy rain and wind moves up the country

Metservice recorded winds at 117-kilometres-an-hour in the capital this morning, and 19-millimetres of rain within an hour.
Fire and Emergency says there've been about 10 calls in relation to surface flooding in the capital.
One person drove into floodwater on Kenmore Street in Newlands, and couldn't move their car, or get out of it, until the flooding had cleared.
The active cold front's moving quickly north from the South Island - expected to reach Auckland this evening.
NIWA says lightning is striking around New Plymouth, 90 mile beach in Northland, and the Kapiti Coast.
