Wallabies prop Taniela Tupou has suffered minor cuts to his arm after having his phone snatched outside the team's hotel in South Africa.
Tupou was walking back to the team hotel in the upmarket Sandton area of Johannesburg after dinner with Wallabies teammates at about 9:15pm on Saturday (local time) when a man grabbed his phone.
He gave chase but the man jumped into a waiting vehicle. He suffered the cuts to his arm as he tried to grab the phone out of the car.
"Last night went out for dinner with the front rowers, it was just outside the hotel and I went back, someone came walking around and took my phone," Tupou said.
"I thought it was one of the boys so I looked back and he was wearing a hoodie and ran with my phone.
"I tried to chase after him, he got in the car and got a bit of a cut but I'm fine.
"The only thing is I lost my phone but I can live with that."
Wallabies officials contacted local police following the incident, with the squad having only arrived in Johannesburg earlier in the day.
It is believed the incident was part of a series of thefts in Johannesburg that night.
The Wallabies are in South Africa to play the Springboks in their Rugby Championship Test at Ellis Park in Johannesburg next Sunday morning (AEST).
Tupou, 23, is expected to be available for selection, as he looks to add to his tally of 11 Test caps.
He was wearing bandaging on his right arm on Sunday morning (local time) and was shaken by the incident.
