Vandals have attacked a six and a half thousand dollar sculpture just a week after it was installed in Hastings
19 July 2019
The sculpture, in the new laneway between the Rockshop and MusicWorks in Heretaunga Street was knocked over and damaged.
Rockshop employee Andrew Miles saw the sculpture leaning just a few hours after being installed - and say a few days later it had tipped over completely.
Some locals believe the art-work is too flimsy and was toppled by bad weather.
But Hastings District Council planning and regulatory manager, John O'Shaughnessy, says it's the work of vandals and it's been removed and until the damage is assessed .
He doesn't know when or if it will be replaced.
