A visiting UK experts says New Zealand GPs need to prepare themselves for prescribing medical cannabis to patients

The Royal NZ College of General Practitioners European has endorsed medical cannabis expert Professor Mike Barnes to hold a series of seminars for New Zealand doctors on using the drugs.
Prof Barnes, a neurologist who focuses on rehabilitation, was tasked in 2016 with creating a report on the evidence for cannabis for UK parliamentarians.
He discovered multiple sclerosis patients found the drug so effective they were willing to risk prosecution to use it.
Prof Barnes says cannabis is a remarkably useful drug for many chronic conditions, including epilepsy, pain, anxiety and muscle problems.
