The Reserve Bank is being warned ahead of another possible rates cut

The Reserve Bank is being warned ahead of another possible rates cut

The central bank is expected to cut the Official Cash Rate to another record low before the end of the year, and could go as low as one percent.

Infometrics chief forecaster Gareth Kiernan says cutting interest rates any lower could be dangerous.

He says lower interest rates could lead people to take on risky investment, or avoid banks altogether.

But economist Cameron Bagrie says the Reserve Bank also has the currency to consider.

He says the currency market is sending the world in a race to the bottom for interest rates.
