Potential travel disruptions across the South Island today

Road snow warnings have been issued for mountain passes across the Mainland, with up to half-a-metre of snow forecast for Arthurs and Porters passes.
Metservice forecaster, Cameron Coutts , says it's a typical winter storm... although it's coming a bit later than usual after a mild winter.
Coutts says the brunt of the storm is predicted to skip the North Island, with a relatively warm north-west flow bringing rain and showers instead.
