The 15-metre long boat replaces the branch's 20-year-old large rescue boat.
General manager Graeme Ogg says it's a significant investment - costing about 1.8-million-dollars.
He says fire fighting capabilities have been built in as an extra function.
Ogg says it'll be out in the Hauraki Gulf waters with its volunteer crew on standby to help boaties.
