Punaarika O'Sullivan from Wellington College was knocked out by a tackle at an under-15s match on Saturday.
Monique Dalley rushed on the field and began CPR.
She says he was originally breathing - but his condition deteriorated quickly.
Dalley says after about 10 compressions, O'Sullivan began breathing again.
