Teachers and students at a Christchurch school are being urged to stay away while it gets decontaminated

Teachers and students at a Christchurch school are being urged to stay away while it gets decontaminated

Haeata Community Campus will be closed today - because of a suspected outbreak of acute viral gastroenteritis.

Medical Officer of Health Dr Ramon Pink says symptoms include vomiting and diarrhoea - which may cause dehydration.

He says they advise affected people stay away from work or school for at least 24 hours after symptoms have abated.
