New Zealand will begin day four of the first test against Sri Lanka on 195 for seven - an overall lead of 177.
Opener Tom Latham, who made 45 in the second innings, says you never really feel 'in'.
And with Sri Lanka still to bat again, Latham hopes it keeps getting more difficult.
BJ Watling and Will Somerville will be at the crease when play resumes at 4.15pm.
