The road where a milk tanker went over the Rakaia Bridge in Canterbury is due to reopen about now

Two people suffered minor injuries when the tanker collided with a car just before 6:30 this morning.

The crash closed part of State Highway One - adding an hour to travel between Ashburton and Christchurch.

An NZTA spokesperson says there has been no structural damage to the bridge, and a temporary barrier will be put in place at the scene.
