The British Opposition leader's plan to be interim Prime Minister has fallen flat

Jeremy Corbyn wrote to Opposition MPs, and some Tory MPs, with a plan to be caretaker Prime Minister in a bid to avoid a no-deal Brexit - and promised to call a general election.
It was met with initial support, raising Corbyn's hopes he could be installed into Downing Street.
But a senior Tory MP now says he won't back the plan because he doesn't think Corbyn can command a majority.
Sir Oliver Letwin says he wants to help avoid a no-deal Brexit, but he doesn't want Corbyn as Prime Minister.
