Parents of a teenager who won't get out of bed in the morning have been fined 50 dollars each

Parents of a teenager who won't get out of bed in the morning have been fined 50 dollars each

The couple, who now live apart, have pleaded guilty in the Dunedin District Court to a charge laid under the Education Act after their son consistently failed to turn up to school.

At one point over two months last year, the 15-year-old had racked up 38 days of unjustified absence.

The parents' lawyer told the court they just can't get him out of bed in the mornings.
