An off duty police officer has been badly hurt after stepping in during a domestic violence incident on Auckland's North Shore

It happened in Takapuna, on July 14th.
A police spokesman says the officer intervened after a man allegedly rammed a car with someone inside.
The officer tried to stop the man, who, along with a member of the public, was then allegedly assaulted.
Two of the officer's teeth were knocked out.
A 37-year-old man is before the North Shore District Court after being charged with a number of offences.
