Wellington regional councillors are ready to prove their climate emergency declaration isn't just a statement

Wellington regional councillors are ready to prove their climate emergency declaration isn't just a statement

They unanimously passed the move this morning - with an action plan to back it up.

It includes a Council target of becoming carbon neutral by 2030.

Councillor Sue Kedgley says they don't want the accusations of hypocrisy faced by other councils.

She says it's not a hollow gesture and they've committed themselves to an ambitious programme of action.
