Police say the arrests were made after they executed search warrants at two Christchurch properties on Wednesday.
Detective Senior Sergeant, Joel Syme, says a 22-year-old woman has been charged with 20 counts of using counterfeit money, while a 29-year-old woman faces six counts.
Both have been bailed to appear in Christchurch District Court on Tuesday.
Syme says counterfeit notes have a distinctive paper feel and irregularities - and business should especially check 50 and 100 dollar notes.
