The reporting date has been delayed from next Thursday to no longer than the end of the month.

It's also confirmed prior guidance that it expects to report a loss of 590 to 675 million dollars for the year to July, which is a 37 to 42 cent loss per share.

The Business Herald's Duncan Bridgeman says this year's results are particularly complex.

Fonterra says it needs extra time with its auditor to work through the nitty gritty in its accounts.
