The former All Black's been appointed to the role and will take over from Steve Tew, who is stepping down at the end of the year.
NZR's ability to resign All Blacks Brodie Retallick and Beauden Barrett was helped by clauses in their contacts that allows them to play overseas.
Robinson says keeping talent in New Zealand is an area they need to keep working on.
