At North Shore District Court - Judge Jonathan Down says Michael Beaumont violated the trust he had as a church representative, to abuse children in their own homes.
He ruled Beaumont will also be registered as a child sex offender, as he was more recently found to be in possession of stories about serious sexual abuse of children.
Down says it shows the perpetrator could pose a continued risk to children in the community... so he needs to be monitored.
