2017 Lions rugby captain Sam Warburton wanted to go to extra time in the drawn third test against the All Blacks in Auckland

2017 Lions rugby captain Sam Warburton wanted to go to extra time in the drawn third test against the All Blacks in Auckland

The sides had to share the spoils in what was also a drawn three-match series.

In his new book, the Welshman says after the game he and his New Zealand opposite Kieran Read agreed they would have preferred to keep going at Eden Park.

Warburton says he'd have played golden point.

The loose forward's also revealed he came close to leaving the tour before the second test in Wellington, only to be convinced otherwise by his mum during a 2am phone call back to Cardiff.
