One of the victims of a fatal family harm incident in Christchurch had been suffering from a serious medical issue

One of the victims of a fatal family harm incident in Christchurch had been suffering from a serious medical issue

Police were called to a house on Wairakei Road in Burnside just after four this morning.

They found the bodies of an elderly man and woman in the bedroom - as well as four handguns.

Canterbury District Commander Superintendent John Price says they received a 111 call from someone at the address saying they had used a firearm.

But he says one occupant was receiving regular medical care - which had increased over the last few days.
