Just over half of under-fives sick in Auckland's measles outbreak have ended up in hospital

Just over half of under-fives sick in Auckland's measles outbreak have ended up in hospital

Waitemata and Auckland DHBs' Dr Karen Bartholomew says 52 per cent of children aged 0 to four have been hospitalised.

And an interim report into the region's 1307 total cases shows overall hospital admissions are also much higher than usual.

Bail has been denied for a Christchurch man accused of murdering an old friend.

51-year-old David Benbow made three appearances yesterday in the Christchurch District Court.

    Amber Allott reports.

Winston Peters' vision for the SuperGold Card doesn't end with yesterday's reveal of an app and website revamp.

The NZ First leader launched the card for over 65s in 2007.

He hopes it can become a combined loyalty and bank debit card - but can't disclose how far along Coalition talks are

Peters also wants SuperGold Card owners to get reminders of things like doctors' appointments.

Winter is still making its mark this Spring - a snowfall warning has been issued for many parts of the country overnight.

MetService says snow is expected on the Napier Taupo Road and Desert Road.

For the South Island, it says snow will fall on the Lewis, Arthurs, Porters and Lindis Passes, as well as the Crown Range Road and Milford Road.

Motorists are advised to take care.
