A Hurunui mayoral candidate is facing heat over a photo showing dogs out in the rain tied to her car

A Hurunui mayoral candidate is facing heat over a photo showing dogs out in the rain tied to her car

Photos of councillor Julia McLean's sign-written vehicle - with two dogs tied to a trailer on the back - were posted on Bishopdale's Community Facebook page - but have since been deleted.

The photographer claims it was freezing - and the dogs were whining and upset.

She says she approached the councillor and also called the SPCA.
