New Zealand Archbishop Cardinal John Dew will oversee the former second Catholic Bishop of Palmerston North's duties

New Zealand Archbishop Cardinal John Dew will oversee the former second Catholic Bishop of Palmerston North's duties

The Pope's accepted the resignation of former Bishop Charles Drennan - who admitted to inappropriate, but not illegal, sexual behaviour with a teenage girl.

Cardinal Dew's been appointed administrator of the diocese until a replacement's found.

The behaviour complained about happened eight years ago when Bishop Drennan was a priest - but the same year he was appointed a bishop.
