Southland police are reminding locals to secure their fuel tanks - after a rash of diesel thefts

Southland police are reminding locals to secure their fuel tanks - after a rash of diesel thefts

Police say fuel has been reported stolen this week from roadworks sites in Winton and Waimatuku.

They say commonly targeted vehicles include those on commercial worksites - and those left in isolated areas like paddocks.

Police want to hear from anyone with information on the thefts - or anyone who's been offered fuel at a price too good to be true.
