The Roosters beat Canberra 14-8 but with the scores level, the Raiders looked to have earned a repeat set when fullback James Tedesco failed to catch a bomb.
Referee Ben Cummins ruled the Raiders needed to cough up possession at the next tackle - Tedesco's key 73rd minute try came a minute later.
