Typhoon Hagibis looks set to disrupt games in Yokohama this weekend.

New Zealand and Italy play further south in Toyota on Saturday afternoon.

Ardie Savea says he shelved his protective goggles against Namibia in Tokyo because they were fogging up.

South Africa have finished pool play with a 66-7 defeat of Canada in Kobe.

The Springboks scored 10 tries, including the fastest hat-trick in the tournament's history to Cobus Reinach across 20 minutes.

Canadian replacement lock Josh Larsen became the sixth player to be sent off at the tournament, five minutes before halftime.

World Rugby vice-chairman and former Argentina halfback Agustin Pichot is proposing a radical rule change to the sport.

In an interview with London's Telegraph, Pichot wants the offside line moved back two metres to create more room for attack.

Chinese state television has refused to air NBA basketball exhibition games this week, after a tweet from Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey which backed protests in Hong Kong.

Morey's since apologised for expressing an opinion, and deleted the evidence.

It's resulted in the loss of Chinese sponsors and broadcasts in a key NBA market.

Andy Murray has lost to Fabio Fognini in the second round of tennis' Shanghai Masters after twice failing to serve out the match.

Murray pushed the world number 12 to three sets, including two lost tiebreaks.

Simone Biles has become the most decorated female gymnast in world championship history.

The 22-year-old has scooped her 21st medal after her American team claimed gold in Germany.

Terenzo Bozzone has withdrawn from the Ironman world championships in Hawaii with an achilles injury.

Breakers basketballer RJ Hampton has been offered a hand by Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant as he hopes to be picked in the top 10 of next year's NBA draft.

He's trained in front of over 100 scouts this week.

The Breakers play the Grizzlies this afternoon.

The collateral damage from running coach Alberto Salazar's four-year doping ban continues.

Britain's track and field federation has confirmed its performance director Neil Black, who defended Salazar's work with the team, is leaving his job.

Australian cricket selector Trevor Hohns won't guarantee David Warner a spot at the top of the order for the summer's first test against Pakistan.

Warner endured a form slump as Australia retained the Ashes, scoring 95 runs at 9.5 and becoming the first batsman dismissed for single figures eight times in a series.

This NRL season has been the last for Will Chambers in a Melbourne Storm jersey.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports Chambers is in talks with Japanese rugby franchise Suntory.
