Scott McLaughlin's warmed up to the importance of starting from first at today's Bathurst 1000

The Kiwi claimed pole in the shootout with a new lap record up Mount Panorama.

On Friday, McLaughlin play down the focus of being at the front, something he's turning back on now... slightly.

    Racing begins at 1:30pm.
