    Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth's getting a major upgrade


    Health Minister David Clark has announced a 300 million dollar project to build a new East Wing.

    The new Emergency Department will be twice as big, and there'll also be a new Intensive Care Unit.

    The redevelopment also includes a rooftop helipad and purpose built maternity facilities.

    He says the community deserve modern, fit for purpose facilities.

    Dr Clark says the current buildings have seismic risk and other ageing issues and do need upgrading.
