District Heath Boards are adamant staffing shortages aren't compromising patient care.

District Heath Boards are adamant staffing shortages aren't compromising patient care.

If follows a survey by the Association of Salaried Medial Specialists, estimating staffing shortage to be around 24 percent nationwide.

But the DHBs say that figure doesn't represent the "actual number of job vacancies."

A spokesperson says they acknowledge workload pressures and specialists' fatigue, but it doesn't mean services are unsafe.
