    The man accused of murdering Christchurch man Michael McGrath is still seeking bail... with his trial more than a year away


    51-year-old David Charles Benbow has denied a charge of murdering McGrath - who was last seen in his Halswell home in May 2017.

    This morning, Justice Cameron Mander informed the High Court at Christchurch there'll be a bail application hearing for Benbow next week.

    He also confirmed the trial will begin in February 2021.

    Benbow appeared in the brief court session via video link.
