    A number of people are seriously hurt after a crash involving a fleeing driver in Christchurch


    A police pursuit began after a vehicle failed to stop for police on Papanui Road around 4am.

    Police say the chase lasted approximately four minutes through residential streets, before the vehicle collided with another one, driven by a member of the public.

    It happened at the intersection of Glandovey Road and Idris Road.

    The Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene and the Independent Police Conduct Authority will be notified.
