Snow to low levels is expected in the South Island tonight, as a cold front moves up the country

Two to four centimetres of snow is forecast to settle on the passes, with up to 10 centimetres expected for Porters Pass.
MetService meteorologist Tahlia Crabtree says the it should ease by early tomorrow morning.
She says it'll be worst in inland North Canterbury, with snow expected to 300 metres.
The cold front is due to reach the lower North Island about 3am tomorrow.
It will hit the upper North Island from about 8am.
