A shot was fired into the house of a police officer in the northern Hawke's Bay town of Wairoa on Saturday night, and another two shots were fired at the Wairoa Police station on Sunday night.
Association President Chris Cahill says he assumes the incident is gang related, and gangs and guns are causing too much violence.
He says rural communities suffer from these sorts of serious incidents as much as provincial and metropolitan areas in New Zealand.
