    Tauranga City Council workers are marking the first meeting of the new Council, with a strike


    Mayor Tenby Powell's chairing his first meeting this afternoon.

    The Public Service Association says councillors are being greeted by a picket line, with council staff walking off the job for two hours.

    It says staff aren't paid the national median rate for their profession and this needs to change.
