    A magnitude 5.0 earthquake south of Tauranga has been felt across the eastern North Island



    The quake struck early this morning at quarter to six, and was located 20 kilometres south of Tauranga.

    It had a depth of 276 kilometres.

    It was widely felt in Hawkes' Bay and the lower North Island.
