Chief political reporter Alex Mason says the Deputy Prime Minister's privacy lawsuit began today .
He claims former National Ministers Paula Bennett and Anne Tolley, and public servants were behind a leak which showed he'd been overpaid his pension for seven years.
Peters' lawyer says the leak suggested - at worst - that he had committed fraud.
He says that's as damaging to a person's reputation as an allegation of sexual offending.
