The jury has just been selected for 32-year-old Venod Skantha's six-week trial.
Skantha is accused of murdering 16-year-old Amber-Rose Rush - who was found dead in her Dunedin home last year.
Justice Gerald Nation warned more than a hundred potential jurors before selection about the Dunedin News Facebook Page - which has more than 50 thousand members.
He told the court a lot of factually incorrect and prejudiced information was shared - at the time of the murder, and when Amber-Rose's mother died four months later .
Nation said any potential jurors who had commented or posted about the death would be stood down.
