The Kiwis utility was a late call up to start at hooker for the first test win in Auckland, after incumbent Brandon Smith was suspended for disciplinary reasons.
Nikorima was on holiday before joining the squad and didn't train at all before taking the field at Eden Park.
Nikorima will come off the bench in Christchurch, with Smith reinstated at hooker.
